About Me

I'M BRAD HOEFS

From childhood, painting has been an outlet for me to express myself. Whenever I'm creating art, it brings back the same feeling of joy that I used to have when playing in the playground. I've ventured into realism, but abstract painting is my passion.

Since 1995, when my life was interuptted by a mental health diagnosis, painting has become an essential part of maintaining my mental health. It's my go-to activity for finding peace, clarity and insight. Painting is a place of spiritual healing and hope for me.

I've been a Lutheran pastor since 1985, and have served two churches in Omaha, Nebraska. Currently, however, I'm dedicating my time to leading Fresh Hope for Mental Health (www.FreshHope.us) - which I founded in 2008.

In fact, All proceeds from purchases go towards providing real hope and healing to those with mental health issues, as well as their loved ones. Our main focus is offering faith-based peer-to-peer support groups and resources created by peers. Fresh Hope has gone international, with 17 different languages now involved in the effort - including English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, and three Indian languages.

Techniques

My artwork is an expression of my creative intuition, using various brush techniques to layer colors and create depth in the painting. I often include words within my pieces that make them unique – for example, when I create a custom ‘Blessing Board’, it’s only composed of words.
